So you’re just minding your own business, trundling down the street on your very own ‘personal transporter’, and what happens? Suddenly your world starts going in reverse and there’s nothing you can do about it! Well that appear to be the story from Segway. A bug in the operating software which “can unexpectedly reverse the direction of the wheels which can cause a rider to fall”.
I guess lets all hope that the bug isn’t time based too. Can you imagine the panic in the streets as pedestrians take flying leaps onto the nearest road to avoid being flattened by an out of control Segway. Not the mention the poor unfortunate soul holding on for dear life!
The reg has full details on it here.
I’d be interested to see how this fairs against the likes of paypal. Whilst i have nothing against paypal, with the mighty google in the picture i can see them making more that just a little impact in the world of online payment processing. The advantages of the google system is that it will link in with your adword campaigns, giving you free payment processing for every £x’s of adword ‘tokens’. As opposed to the likes of worldpay and secpay which charge per transaction, this is effectively giving you a load of free adwords tokens. Nice!
On the recommendation of my friend at work i opted to buy an LG 32 LCD (32lx2r). Well all i can say is that I’m very disappointed. Reading about it seems that many LCD have the problem of rendering black correctly (my Apple Cinema Displays however don’t have this problem - go figure). When the LG is just showing something which is meant to be black it’s just grey (backlight showing though) and as you can imagine this affects the picture you can get from the set.
In addition to this problem it won’t work with a sky+ remote version 6 and below (which is the current model) and doesn’t auto switch on receiving a wide/not wide signal from the channel. All in all i’m very disappointed and in addition to that curry’s won’t take it back! I always buy Sony! Why did i do this? No worries it’ll not happen again!

Looks like the people over at the Swansea North Residents Association are up in arms about a Tango TV Ad filmed on their doorsteps. Complaining about the fruit pulp on their streets. Don’t know about you but i think the film is fantastic! Top dog tango! (Assuming you don’t get sued by Sony ;))
[edit] Well it actually turns out that the whole site is a clever marketing ploy by tango (or their advertising partners). Still fantastic!

It’s so much richer (not monetary) that anywhere else in the UK i’ve experienced (and probably the world. But since I’m not widely traveled i can’t make that observation). I guess some of that comes from being more ethnically diverse that the rest of the country.
Just yesterday i was heading towards Camden Town to take my bass in for a tune up (the Northern Line was suffering severe delays due to a signal failure or some such excuse). I asked a 50 year old or so lady, of what seemed to me to be West African origin (maybe Cameroon), if this was the right direction to Camden. She told me yes then proceeded to walk me to the door of the Bass Shop if was heading too. Found out she played guitar and harp(?!) and was looking for a tutor to develop her skills. Super helpful.
Now I was always under the impression that everyone down South was rude and if you were to even ask for directions you’d be ignored. I guess this prejudice works it’s way down from our parents and grandparents. I have to say that in the past few years of visiting London i’ve yet to experience anything like this. All i’ve seen of London is friendly and helpful. People dress how they want with not even a look of disgust from their fellow Londoners. Everyone seems to be accepted for who they are. Now i accept in my limited experience of this city i may not have the full picture but I imagine there’s a lot we in the rest of the country can learn
Ok so 1.) I’m not a Londoner and 2.) I’ve only ever commented in London at rush hour once before, but…. I’ve never seen them stop people at the entry barriers to elevate the pressure on the platforms. Very interesting (or annoying if you’re trying to get somewhere).
Saw this happen at Victoria underground station this morning (Circle and District Lines).

I’ve just been informed by a work collegue that a bus has just driven into the Subway store on Infirmary Street. Here are some pictures check it out! Turns out it was Ainsleys rather than subway (still means i can’t get in for a beef on honey oat!)

It seems that when running Windows XP via Bootcamp on a Macbook Pro there's problems with the sound drivers supplied by Apple. I discovered this when playing Battle for Middleearth 2 on a particularly boring train journey from London to Leeds last week. On removing my earphones I discovered that sound was still emanating from the built in speakers. To my horror i'd been playing the game with everyone in my immediate vicinity able to hear what was going on. I know i'd have been annoyed had i been on the receiving end. How embarrassing!
